Grey Matter

How many times can you mix  black and white to get...fifty shades of grey?

The erotic novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey" is a popular read right now with young, and old women alike. It is so popular, that it even got a small mention in the Best Buy Super Bowl commercial. Reviews of the novel promise that you will be captivated, possessed, and long for more. The mental images of this pornographic novel promise to never leave you, and to haunt your thoughts.  One writer spoke of the novel as, "mommy porn". However its influence does not stop there. You will find  talk of it on high school, and college compasses alike.

We are inundated by many messages about our sexuality. Culture has something to say about every aspect of sex, and it always will. Culture is educating us on what good sex...IS or NOT. The voice of culture hums a tune of freedom and unbridled passion but the one thing they will NEVER tell you is the side effects of taking their advice. Kind of like watching the commercials for prescription drugs. Promises, promises...and at the end of the commercial is a very fast list of all the side effects, and what might happen to you if you take that drug.

Proverbs 6: 27 " Can a man scoop a flame into his lap
and not have his clothes catch on fire?

The truth is you cannot manage lust. It is a hungry monster thats belly is never satisfied. It will continue to rumble for more and more until there is no more boundaries, and no end to what will be demanded for satisfaction. Lust is not a fireside picnic, and dreamy romance. It promises greedy pleasures that are fleeting, and broken hearts are its trophy. We cry out for freedom, and rights as a culture but even with freedom we are not freed up from the consequences of our choices

Sex is powerful, and can be used to build up or tear down. It is a gift from God, and because it is so powerful we must be alert, and wake up. It is a big deal. When I hear young people say,"Whats the big deal...I'm just having fun"...my heart breaks. Wisdom is something we must seek, and be willing to apply to our lives. I ask you today, what are you listening to when it comes to your sexuality? What do you believe you are worth? What value do you put on yourself? I ask that God will surround you with his presence today, and that you will know His great adoration, and love for you...His precious daughter.  I pray that you will trust God with this area of your life. He has good things for you. I ask that no matter where you are that you will feel encouraged to commit this area to God and ask for His best. Do not settle for anything less.

It is your choice.
